*Stars & Stories

Want to see the milky way and learn more about our constellations? Join us in the Visitor Center Parking Lot for a star filled night. Program starts at 6pm.

January 1, 2025
*First Day Sunset Hike

Start the New Year off right by being a part of the nationwide First Day Hike Movement!  Beginning at the main Dead Horse Point overlook, the hike will start on the East Rim with views of alpenglow beginning to shine on the La Sal Mountains, before looping back on the West Rim to witness the sun set over Canyonlands National Park. Meet at the main Dead Horse Point Overlook at 4:00 p.m. The hike will begin at 4:15 p.m.

January 11, 2025
*Full Moon Hike

As the full moon lights up the night sky, come walk by its light. This 1 mile hike will be ranger-led and will give you a better idea of the night life here at the park. Meet in front of the Visitor Center at 6pm.

Sunset Talk

While the sun begins to lower itself below the horizon, join a ranger as they talk about the amazing things inside and outside the park. Meet by the bathrooms at the Dead Horse Point Overlook at 4:30pm. We will be walking a little ways down the west rim trail before getting to our spot.
