Utah State Parks and the Utah Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (UHGPGA) are partnering to preserve this unique recreation area that is an excellent site for teaching and gathering experience for flyers of all levels. It is known worldwide as one of the best training sites for both paragliding and hang gliding.

Just west of the parking lot, there is also a modelport for RC airplanes and helicopters.
Special Use Permits: A Special Use Permit is needed for any commercial activities that take place inside of the State Park. This includes races, tournaments and professional photography (work for which you are being compensated). Please fill out the Special Use Permit application.

Camping
Please note that camping is permitted only at designated areas on the top of the park. To ensure a pleasant experience for all visitors, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Campsites: 15 designated campsites at the top of the bluff for camping. Camping is not allowed at the base of the hill.
- Stay Limit: Campers are allowed a maximum stay of 14 days within a 30-day period.
- Camp Fees: A camp fee of $15 per night is required, $10 for each extra vehicle. Pay near restroom at iron ranger and keep your receipt for proof of payment.
- Restrooms: Two (2) stall vault toilets available.
- Fire Restrictions: Open fires are strictly prohibited to protect the natural environment and ensure safety.
- Leave No Trace: We ask all campers to clean up after their stay. Please pack out everything you bring in to help us maintain the park’s pristine condition.
While generators are allowed please be considerate of everyone else trying to camp. Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy your stay!
History
According to Utah Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association President Ty McCartney, each year approximately 700 pilots fly the point and nearly 30 percent of those are from out of state or out of the country.
In 1927, the University of Utah Flying Club flew here, using a Model A or Model T to launch. If they didn’t have a car, a team of men pulling a rope helped launch flyers.
Opened to the public as a state park in 2006.
