Seasonal Security Ranger: Huntington, Millsite, Scofield State Parks
This is a non-law enforcement position that entails routine inspection, maintenance, and basic security of the Huntington, Millsite, and Scofield State Park(s) under the supervision of the park manager. The Incumbent monitors the activities of visitors and reports problems to park management and/or other authorities. The Security Ranger patrol(s) the park properties and enforces regulations in a courteous, but firm manner. This role provides security to facilities, construction sites, park grounds as needed, and including late-night visits to areas prone to vandalism, disturbances, and illegal activities.
The individual holding the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.

Examples of Duties

● Verbally communicate with guests and team members in a calm and positive way. ● Patrolling/Monitor Parks and other areas as assigned. ● Complete accurate reports of all situations that involve the maintenance issues, safety, security of the guests and employees in a timely manner. ● Inform patrons of rules and policies of the parks. ● Respond to emergency situations. ● Assist and cooperate with local law enforcement agencies when needed. ● Locking and unlocking restrooms, gates, and other park facilities. ● Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of park facilities and grounds. ● Perform Other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need for Success:
● Position requires individuals to work evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays. ● Position is required to wear a DNR provided uniform. ● May be required to have a valid driver’s license. ● May be required to travel to additional properties. ● May perform duties in a variety of different environments, including an office, field, rugged terrain, and various weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, etc.) ● Spread Joy: We choose to wear a smile every day. ● Serve Others: We go the extra mile for our guests, vendors, and our teammates.

Huntington State Park will be the central location for the main office, equipment, and service vehicle.
Must be able to work four 10-hour workdays on nights, weekends, and holidays. 3pm to 11pm, holiday weekends 4pm to 12am. Typical working season is from May to September.

Pay range $18-$20.

All water has been turned on to the campground. Please wrap your water lines with heat tape during freezing temperatures.

Camping reservations for the 2024 season can be made through Reserve America. Reservations cannot be made through the State Park office phone line.  You can make reservations 4 months in advance, but not within 48 hours of your arrival. Walk-in fees can be paid by fee envelope at the entrance station or by using Park Pass online (note that cell phone reception is limited in the park).
