May

May 16, Goblin Valley Astronomy Festival!

We will have programs all day long for this special day! Schedule:

1-4pm: fun astronomy crafts at the park visitor center!

6-8pm: dark sky table at the Observation Point. Learn about light pollution, the importance of protecting dark skies and nocturnal wildlife!

9:30pm: Dark Skies and Constellations! Join rangers from multiple state parks to learn about the importance of dark skies and tour the constellations. We will have multiple telescopes available to view space objects.

May 16, Utah Adventure Safe Day, 9am-1pm

A statewide reminder to get outside, explore, and recreate responsibly across Utah’s incredible public lands. We’ll be out at the Observation Point sharing Adventure Safe resources, tips, and handing out FREE safety checklists, activity books, and giveaways. Whether you’re hiking, mountain biking, or riding your UTV, a little preparation goes a long way. Stop by, say hi, and grab what you need for a safe day in the desert. Plan smart. Adventure more.

May 23, Scorpion Quest- Night Vision Mission! 9:30PM, Amphitheater

Join rangers to learn about these amazing critters and then hike with blacklights to see them glow!

May 30, Venomous Critters of Goblin Valley, 8:30PM, Amphitheater

Join rangers to learn about the creepy critters that call the park home! After the program we will search for scorpions with black lights.

May 31, Full Moon Hike, 9:45PM, Observation Point

Join rangers for a short hike through the hoodoos under the light of the full moon! You will learn about the moon, nocturnal wildlife and other park information.

June

June 5, Sunset Hike, Mysterious Creatures of the Park! 830PM, Observation Point

Join rangers for a hike in the hoodoos as you learn about the fascinating wildlife of the park including scorpions, bats, kit foxes and rodents!

June 13, Goblin Valley Dark Sky Junior Ranger Day

Participants can attend both parts of the program and gain a Goblin Valley Junior Ranger badge! Schedule:

8:45pm: Fun astronomy crafts at the Observation Point!

9:45pm: Stars and Constellations! Join rangers to learn about the stars, the constellations and mythology associated with them. We will view various space objects with the telescopes afterwards.

June 20, Star Party! 9:45PM, Observation Point

Join rangers to learn about stars and how they form and tour the constellations! We will view various sky objects through telescopes after the program.

June 27, Bats of Goblin Valley Campfire Program! 9:30PM, Amphitheater

Join rangers to learn about the amazing critters of the night sky. The program will be followed by a campfire and s’mores.

June 29, Full Moon Hike, 9:45PM, Observation Point

Join rangers for a short hike through the hoodoos under the light of the full moon! You will learn about the moon, nocturnal wildlife and other park information.

Note: for all dark sky programs, please bring only lights with red lenses if possible to protect night vision. Please arrive early to avoid illumination with you headlights, or park facing away from the program
