Canyoneering
Rappel into Goblin’s Lair
Goblin’s Lair Rappel/Canyoneering Route is a 89-foot natural sandstone cave on the east side of Goblin Valley, accessed by a short hike through the goblins. This route requires technical gear and canyoneering skills, as well as a backcountry permit. Always be mindful of weather conditions in and around the park. Contact a ranger at 435-275-4584 for more information.
A Backcountry Permit is required for rappels and permits are available daily at the visitor center.
Permits are $4/person (up to ten people in a group) in addition to the park entrance fee. All permits are issued on a first come, first serve basis on the day of arrival, and each rappel will get an assigned time window. Each permit is provides a two hour window. Goblin’s Lair rappel permits are not available until staff are present at the visitor center, approximately at 8am. If you intend to rappel prior to 8am, you must purchase a permit on the previous day. Permits do sell out and may not be available when demand is high.
A rappel permit does not guarantee park entry during capacity days, so please plan ahead.
