Say goodbye to the cold and hello to the fresh air and warm sunshine, as we welcome the new season! Spring is the perfect time to embrace the great outdoors and enjoy all the exciting activities Utah State Parks has to offer.
From hunting for prize-filled eggs and visiting our magical bunny friend, to walking along guided hikes that let you soak in the beauty of nature, or discovering the wonders of the night sky at your nearest park’s star parties and full moon adventures, there is something for everyone!

Dinosaur Egg Hunt

Come join Kodachrome Basin State Park for their first ever Annual Egg Hunt. Open for all ages and visitors.

Willard Bay State Park
April 19, 2025 – 11:00 AM
Join us at Willard Peak Pond at 11:00 am for our annual egg hunt. A special bunny visitor will also be there! Children must be 12 years of age or younger to participate. Arrive EARLY to be divided into age groups.
There will be NO guaranteed entry after 10:50 to the event so we can start right at 11:00 am. Entrance fee $10 per vehicle. No annual/ senior passes accepted for this special event.
Hop & Hunt Egg Party
East Canyon State Park
April 19, 2025 – 11:00 AM
Hop on over to East Canyon State Park for a fun-filled day of springtime adventure and egg-citing activities! This event is free with your park entry fee! Don’t forget to bring your basket and best egg-hunting skills.
Event highlights: Egg hunt Search filled with surprises scattered throughout the park. Golden Egg Challenge: Find the special golden eggs for extra special prizes! Meet our special bunny friend and snap a photo with everyone’s favorite hopper. Family fun: Enjoy games, crafts, and spring-themed activities for all ages. Starts at 11:00 am.
Egg Scramble
Camp Floyd State Park Museum
April 19, 2025 – 1:00 PM
Join Camp Floyd State Park for its annual Egg Scramble on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM. This event is open to children 12 and younger. The lawn will be divided into age groups so your kiddo will have a great chance to grab some eggs with fun treats and surprises. Entrance to Camp Floyd State Park is $5 per person or $15 per family and participants will be required to have a wrist band. For more information please email campfloyd@utah.gov.
Rules:
- Scramblers are not allowed onto the lawn until the area is opened by park staff.
- When the lawn area is opened, Scramblers must stay along the fence until the park staff start the egg scramble. When the scramble begins Scramblers may collect as many eggs as they can until they are all claimed. Please be considerate of other Scramblers.
- No parents allowed in the Scramble area. Parents may stand inside the fence line to watch. Scramblers in the toddler (0-3) area may have one parent help them navigate. Parents may not touch any of the eggs.
- Some eggs will have numbers inside to be exchanged for prizes that don’t fit in an egg.
- Camp Floyd State Park will not be providing baskets or bags to hold your eggs, so make sure to bring your own!

This event will be at the Campground Picnic Area. Bring the family and join rangers for fun animal crafts and games!
Spring Scorpion Hunt
Goblin Valley State Park
April 20, 2025 – 9:00 PM
Want to see a scorpion glow? Join us at the Observation Point to learn about these amazing arachnids and search for them with black lights.
11th Annual Rotten Egg Hunt
Yuba State Park
April 26, 2025 – 2:00 PM
End the month with a bang, as you participate in the very last egg hunt of spring. Bring your family and friends and run through the park collecting as many goodies and prizes as you can. Park entrance fees apply. Egg hunt this year will be located In the Oasis Campground on the main lawn! Starts at 2pm sharp! You just need a day use pass, camping pass or annual pass to participate!

Star Party
Dead Horse Point State Park
April 18, 2025 – 9:00 PM
Do you love stargazing, constellation touring, and telescope viewing? Then this party is for you! The party starts at 9pm in the parking lot of the Visitor Center. Try to arrive 10-15 minutes early and get ready for a spectacular night.
OAS Public Star Party
Antelope Island State Park
April 19, 2025 – 6:00 PM, White Rock Bay Event Area
Join volunteers from Ogden Astronomical Society for an evening of gazing into the cosmos. Starting at 6:00 we’ll begin by viewing our star, the sun; safely through filtered telescopes. Once the sun sets, equipment will be switched out for dark sky viewing of planets, nebulae, star clusters, and even far-away galaxies. Telescopes will be provided.
There is no charge for this event. Regular park entry fees apply. Contact tackley@utah.gov with any questions.
Dark Sky Celebration
Wasatch Mountain State Park
April 19, 2025 – 7:00 -10:00 PM
Bring the whole family to enjoy stargazing and learning about dark skies with hands-on activities and starry treats. To register go here. Cost is $6 Adult Individual ticket (12 years and older) and $4 Child (under 11 years). Park Impacts: None. This event will be at the Wasatch Golf Course.
Star Party
Dead Horse Point State Park
April 19, 2025 – 9:00 PM
Come and learn more about the stars, their stories, and some of the deep space objects in the night sky. Join our rangers for a night under the stars where we will do a constellation tour and then look through telescopes at some out of this world objects!! Meet in the Visitor Center Parking lot at 9pm. Try to arrive 10-15 minutes early.

Tour the Cosmos
Antelope Island State Park
April 23, 2025 – 9:00 PM, White Rock Bay Trailhead
Join us for a naked-eye tour of the cosmos. Red-light head lamps are recommended. Printed star charts will be available. There is no charge for this activity – regular park entry fees apply. Contact tackley@utah.gov with any questions.

The stars have been used for many different things throughout the year. Come learn more about what the stars can do as we stargaze, tour the constellations, and view some deep space objects in a telescope. Meet in the Visitor Center Parking lot at 9pm. Try to arrive 10-15 minutes early.

Stars & Scorpions
Fremont Indian State Park and Museum
May 23, 2025 – 8:45 PM, Museum Outdoor Activity Center
They’re back! Yep, that is right, this will be our first Stars & Scorpions program of the year! This one is always busy, so arrive early to get a seat and a blacklight! Enjoy a short presentation by the ranger on scorpions and Dark Sky efforts. Afterwards, we’ll set up a telescope and some naked-eye star gazing, as well as take you outside of the park to spot scorpions with blacklights. Reservation not needed. *Day-Use fee ($10/vehicle; or your Annual Park Pass) is required and can be paid by card/cash at the time of arrival.

Walk a ways down the west rim trail and then listen as a ranger talks about some of the things you can see from our fantastic Dead Horse Point Overlook. After watch the sun sink below the horizon and watch as it lights up the rocks. Meet by the bathrooms at the Dead Horse Point Overlook at 7pm.

Johnson Canyon is closed seasonally to protect precious resources. Join a ranger guided hike to explore and learn about this wonderful canyon! 9:00am-11:00am. *Registration required*

Guided Hike with an Archaeologist
Fremont Indian State Park and Museum

In celebration of Archaeology and Preservation Month, join our archaeologist and Park Manager on a short, accessible, guided hike in the park. She will be talking about rock art, the archaeological sites found in the park, and so much more. This is a great one to attend to get insights and the scuttlebut on behind-the-scenes efforts in the park. Closed-toed hiking shoes recommended. Bring a water bottle and sun protection! Three different start times throughout the day to join. Day-Use Fees ($10/vehicle) are required to attend.
