TWO ACTIVE ALERTS (Read Below)
ALERT 1; St. George Marathon Spectator Viewing at Snow Canyon
Ivins – Parking is limited within Snow Canyon State Park for spectators hoping to view runners participating in the St. George Marathon. To manage the number of vehicles entering the canyon parking is limited to 325 vehicles and requires advance ticket purchase. Tickets will not be sold at the park but can be purchased through Reserve America at:
Tickets are available on-line through October 5 and cost $4. Each ticket covers one vehicle (up to 8 occupants). Tickets must be presented at the gate; vehicles with a ticket will be directed to park along Snow Canyon Drive in the canyon. Visitors without an advance purchase ticket will not be admitted to the park.
Before purchasing your ticket please note the following:
Traffic will be heavy and hiking is involved to reach the viewing area; plan your time accordingly. Hiking distances are variable and range anywhere from 1/2-mile to 3-miles round-trip. Spectators should be prepared to hike uphill in exposed conditions. ADA parking is limited. If you are planning to view your runner from Snow Canyon you will not have time to leave the park and reach the finish line. Parking is only available between 6a.m. and noon; all vehicles not moved by noon will be towed at the owner’s expense.

ALERT 2; FALL 2018 PARK CLOSURES
Please be aware of the following Snow Canyon State Park closures in conjunction with the St. George Marathon, Huntsman World Senior Games, and Snow Canyon Half Marathon:
Saturday, October 6: The Park will be open to visitors, however, the road from Upper Galoot parking lot to the top of the canyon (SR-18) will be closed from 6a.m. to noon to accommodate St. George Marathon spectators. Road traffic will be extremely heavy during this period.
Monday, October 8: The Park will be open to visitors, however, Snow Canyon Drive from the Upper Galoot parking lot south to the Hidden Pinyon parking lot will be closed from approximately 8:30 to 9:30a.m. In addition, the paved Whiptail Trail will also be closed until approximately 10:30a.m. This closure is in conjunction with the Senior Games 10K.
Tuesday, October 9: Snow Canyon Drive through the park will be closed between 7:30a.m. and 2p.m. to accommodate the Senior Games Cycling Hill Climb. The paved Whiptail Trail will also be closed.
Friday, October 12: Snow Canyon Drive through the park will be closed between 8a.m. and 12:30p.m.to accommodate the Senior Games Cycling Road Race. The paved Whiptail Trail will also be closed.
Saturday, November 3: Snow Canyon Drive through the park will be closed between 8 and 11a.m. to accommodate the Snow Canyon Half Marathon. The paved Whiptail Trail will also be closed.
