ALERT 1: Construction Impacts October 2024 – February 2025

On October 21, 2024, construction began on several visitor and park improvement projects. Work includes construction of a new restroom at the Scout Cave/Johnson Canyon trailhead; widening of the south entrance road from one to two incoming lanes; construction of a new south entrance station; and the expansion and improvement of multiple parking lots. The Park will remain open, however, park entry AND multiple parking lots and trailheads will be impacted. Please be aware of the following dates and impacts:

  1. December 2, 2024 – February 14, 2025: The south entrance of Snow Canyon State Park will be open to incoming traffic only.  Outbound vehicles will need to exit through the north and use SR-18 to return to Ivins, St. George, or other nearby communities.  This closure will be in place Mondays – Thursdays. Standard traffic patterns will be in effect Fridays – Sundays.  This traffic restriction is for the safety of visitors and construction crews.
  2. October 21, 2024 – February 14, 2025: The Scout Cave/Johnson Canyon parking lot will be closed. Access to the Johnson Canyon, Scout Cave, and Padre Canyon trails will be limited as a result.
  3. December 2, 2024 – January 16, 2025: The Jenny’s Canyon and Pioneer Names parking lots will be closed and there will be intermittent disruptions to the Upper Galoot lot.

Schedule changes are possible; updates and schedule changes will be posted as necessary.

Please excuse our dust as we make these park and visitor improvements. For more information, please phone 435-628-2255.
