EDGE OF THE CEDARS STATE PARK MUSEUM

About the Area
San Juan County, Utah, is famous for its natural beauty, spectacular geology, and archaeology, as well as its diverse mix of cultures. Goosenecks State Park, located 56 miles southwest of Blanding, offers a scenic overlook of the goosenecks of the San Juan River and primitive camping (no fee, no drinking water). Other area landmarks include Mexican Hat Rock and the Valley of the Gods scenic drive (unpaved). West from Blanding, Highway 95 leads to the Butler Wash overlook hiking trail and the dramatic Comb Ridge roadcut. Within a few hours' drive of Blanding, you can explore Newspaper Rock, the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, and Arches National Park (to the north); Mesa Verde National Park and Hovenweep National Monument (to the east); and Natural Bridges National Monument (to the west).
