CEDAR CITY, Utah — Frontier Homestead State Park Museum, in collaboration with Sagebrush Fiber Artisans, invites you to an exciting and educational event — Sheep to Shawl! Get ready for a day filled with family fun, hands-on experiences, and a chance to witness the fascinating process of turning wool into beautiful garments.

Whether you’re a textile enthusiast, a history buff, or simply looking for a delightful day out with the family, Sheep to Shawl promises an unforgettable adventure.


Have you ever wondered how a cozy wool sweater or stylish shawl is made? Now is your chance to find out! This event will take you through each stage of the wool-making process, providing a unique and interactive experience for visitors of all ages.

  1. Meet the Sheep: Real sheep will be in attendance, allowing you to touch and feel their wool before and after their annual haircut. It’s an up-close encounter with these fluffy friends!

  2. Shearing Demonstrations: Enjoy skillful shearing demonstrations once per hour, starting at 10:30 AM and ending with the final shearing at 3:45 PM. 

  3. Hands-On Demonstrations: The journey continues with hands-on demonstrations showcasing the entire wool-making process. From washing and carding to spinning, dyeing, and weaving — you’ll witness the artistry and skill that goes into creating these textile masterpieces.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 16, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. 

Admission is $4.00 per person or $20.00 per family. Friend’s Group members enjoy free entry with their membership card.
