Teen Dies In UTV Accident At BLM Sand Mountain OHV Area

SAND MOUNTAIN OHV AREA — A teenager died today following a UTV accident in the BLM Sand Mountain OHV Area adjacent to Sand Hollow State Park.

At approximately 2:45 p.m. park rangers responded to the sand dunes within the BLM Sand Mountain OHV Area after receiving reports of a UTV crash involving a family from Colorado. We do not believe other vehicles were involved in the accident.

A 13-year-old male was a passenger inside the UTV when the accident occurred. While he was wearing his seatbelt, he sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

This accident remains under investigation at the time of this report. The individual’s name is being withheld at this time.

The Utah Division of Parks and Recreation extends our condolences to the friends and family impacted by this incident.
