GUNLOCK STATE PARK — Officials have located the body of the man who died at Gunlock State Park after jumping from the top of the waterfalls.

Emergency crews first responded to Gunlock State Park Friday afternoon after receiving reports that Brandon Gary Johnson had been jumping from the top of the waterfalls into the water and had failed to resurface.

Johnson, a 36-year-old from Logan, had been working as a foreman in Washington County for the last 4 months.

Utah State Parks Rangers, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Search and Rescue, and Bureau of Land Management law enforcement responded to the scene to assist in the search. Crews recovered his body from the water Saturday morning.

At this time, it appears that Johnson died from the impact; however, the incident remains under investigation.

The Utah Division of Parks and Recreation would like to thank the county and federal agencies who played a large part in the investigation and recovery and extends our condolences to the friends and family impacted by this incident.
