UPDATE: Name Released in Sand Hollow Fatality

SAND HOLLOW STATE PARK – A Nevada man was killed Wednesday following an incident at the Sand Hollow State Park boating dock.

The man, identified as 71-year-old Jimmie Hilton of Las Vegas, was involved in what appears to be an accidental drowning at this time.

According to witnesses, Hilton was stepping from the dock to an awaiting boat, when he missed the boat and slipped into the water.

Witnesses report Hilton attempted to keep his head above water but was unable to.  Bystanders were able to retrieve him from the water and perform CPR until park and medical personnel arrived to assist.

Despite these efforts, Hilton was unable to be revived and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Our thoughts are with the friends and family of those involved in this tragedy. We ask that everyone remember to take appropriate safety measures when out recreating this season. Always wear your life jacket and follow safe-boating practices when around the water.
