The Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is committed to protecting your privacy. This notice explains our general privacy practices and how we handle your personal data. We may provide more specific notices on forms or other webpages where we collect your data.

We only collect personal data as allowed by law and to fulfill our core mission of managing Utah’s natural resources. We may collect information from you when you visit our website, apply for a permit, or interact with us. If voluntarily provided, personal data is used to contact individuals regarding customer experience and feedback. Depending on the service you are utilizing at DNR, this information may include:
- Names and Contact Information: First and last names, mailing addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers.
- Identification Numbers: Driver’s license numbers, account numbers, or other unique identifiers.
- Financial Information: Credit/debit card numbers for payments and transaction histories.
- License Information: Details related to applications or permits for hunting, fishing, or state parks.
- Employment Information: Data related to job or volunteer applications.
Website Tracking Data
We use tracking technology to improve your experience and to help us understand how people use our site.
Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is used to analyze website traffic, troubleshoot technical issues, and enhance our service. GA4 does not collect personally identifiable information (PII). You control the data your browser shares through your browser privacy settings Google Account’s “Data & Privacy” settings. Analytics data is handled in accordance with record series 30837.
Website visitors may choose to share survey feedback in short (even one-question) surveys as part of the Customer Experience initiative. When you choose to respond, the information you submit is recorded with select browsing information, including, for example, the page you were on, the pages you had visited before submitting, and the browser and device you were using. Non-PII data is handled in accordance with record series 30837.
Some customers choose to submit personal information when requesting support through a survey. Any personally identifiable information collected in this form or survey is handled per record series 30838.
Protection of Personal Data
We work hard to protect your personal data through technical and administrative safeguards. Our employees are trained on privacy and security policies, and we require our service providers to protect your data. If a data breach occurs, we will notify you as required by law.
We do not sell or purchase personal data.
Sharing Personal Data
We only share personal data when allowed by law. We may share data with other government agencies or service providers. We may also share data if legally required to do so.
