Beach Camping at Echo State Park
Sleep under the stars beside the water! Echo State Park offers primitive beach camping along the picturesque shoreline of Echo Reservoir. This unique camping experience is perfect for tent campers looking to enjoy nature up close with unbeatable lake views and direct access to the water.
Seasonal Availability
Beach camping is only available during certain times of the year based on reservoir conditions.
- Typically opens in July, once lake levels drop to around 80% capacity
- Closes in October or earlier depending on weather and lake levels

Camping Details
$25 per night, which includes:
- One (1) vehicle
- Up to eight (8) people
A camping permit is required and can be obtained from:
- The gate staff during regular entry hours
- The on-duty camp host after hours
- Permits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Please have your license plate number ready.
What to Expect
Beach camping is primitive and undeveloped:
- No water or electrical hookups
- No fires are allowed
- Tent camping only — the ground in many areas is too soft for trailers or RVs
- Some beach sites may be hike-in only
- Quiet hours are from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Leave No Trace: Pack out all trash and supplies
Some areas may allow vehicles to park directly at the site, depending on ground conditions. Please check with the gate staff or host upon arrival.
Camper Amenities
Restrooms are available in nearby campground and day-use areas for registered campers
Additional vehicles must pay a separate day-use or camping fee
