NOTICE: Administrative Checkpoints at Markagunt OHV Trail, Sand Hollow State Park

July 19, 2024

The Utah Division of State Parks and other partnering agencies will conduct an administrative checkpoint on Saturday, July 27, and Sunday, July 28.

The first checkpoint will be located off Mammoth Creek Road on the Markagunt OHV trail in Kane County near Duck Creek Village on July 27 and run from 2-9 p.m. The second checkpoint will be located outside Sand Hollow State Park in Washington County on July 28 and run from 5-11 p.m.

These checkpoints aim to verify driver’s licenses, vehicle registrations, and insurance documentation, promoting safe driving practices and administrative compliance.

Officers will briefly stop vehicles to request the necessary documents and conduct a visual inspection of vehicles for safety. Your cooperation and patience are greatly appreciated in ensuring a safer road environment for all residents.

With the recreation season now underway, outdoor recreators should work diligently to keep safety a top priority. Always recreate with a buddy, wear your life jackets and helmets, and be sure to let somebody know where you are going and when to expect your return. Checking weather conditions and water temperatures is also vital.

With increasing temperatures this summer season, be sure to follow our recommended safety tips.
