Goosenecks State Park Temporarily Closed To Camping For September Road Work

September 18, 2023

BLANDING, Utah — Goosenecks State Park will be closed for camping for multiple days this week for work to be completed on the road into the park.

The park will be closed for camping and visitors from 7 p.m – 7 a.m. for three nights. Camping will be closed beginning September 19 and will reopen the morning of September 22. The park will be fully open during daytime hours on all the days. Regular camping hours will resume Friday.

“We do our best to impact as few visitors as possible,” Park Manager Chris Hanson said, “that is why we picked these days and not during a busy weekend. We appreciate everyone’s understanding while we get this project completed.”

As one of the most primitive and smaller parks in the system, Goosenecks State Park is popular with those looking for an adventure off the beaten path. Located at the top of a cliff above the winding San Juan River, this small park is known for its stellar scenery, dark sky viewing, hiking, picnicking, and camping.
