Park of the Week: Jordanelle State Park
Perched above the beautiful Heber Valley, Jordanelle State Park offers a variety of recreational opportunities. Whether you plan on camping, boating, fishing, snowshoeing, or hiking, this park has something for you.
This state park features three separate recreation areas: Hailstone, Rock Cliff, and Ross Creek. Each of these areas provides access to specific areas of the park with a variety of activities available.
Looking to launch your boat for a day on the water followed by some camping afterwards, Hailstone offers a more developed side of Jordanelle; with an eight-lane boat ramp with dry storage and on-the-water fuel and modern RV campgrounds complete with hot showers and power and water hookups
Seeking a bit more of a natural setting? Rock Cliff sports a single-lane boat ramp for the summer months. The water off of the launch ramp is also known for its fishing due to the underwater ecosystem. The Rock Cliff Nature center also offers a one-of-a-kind experience where you can learn about the local wildlife, plants and animals.
Want to lace up your boots and hit the trail? Well, the Ross Creek Trailhead allows access to the Jordanelle Perimeter Trail – a non-motorized trail traveling from Crandall Point to Ross Creek. The trail head is equipped with hitching posts, CXT pit toilets, and information kiosks.
While summertime fun is always a favorite at Jordanelle, the park still has much to offer during the winter months. The main and PWC boat ramps at Hailstone are plowed during winter months until the ice forms on the reservoir.
It may be cold out, but the fish are still biting, and events like the 2016 Wasatch Back Quad-fishalon are here to help you get your winter fishing fix. There are over $5,000 in prizes; including Cabela’s gift cards, swag bags, an Ultimate Ice Fishing Package, Cabela’s fishing clinics, and more
The park also offers Snow Shoe Rentals ranging in a variety of sizes for children and adults. Guests are welcome to enjoy the park’s hiking trails, gorgeous wildlife, cross country skiing, tubing and photography opportunities. Come stop by and see what all the talk is about, here at Jordanelle State Park.
