Park of the Week: Green River State Park
Built around the tradition of outdoor exploration, golfing, and love for the water, Green River State Park is a solid choice for those wanting an authentic river experience.
A favorite among many river runners, Green River State Park allows access to the 120-mile float through Labyrinth and Stillwater Canyons. This section of the river is great for both beginner and intermediate boaters; and takes you through beautiful desert and canyon scenery. Who doesn’t love a great view?
River lovers aren’t the only ones who enjoy this state park. Dotted with tall cottonwood trees and well-manicured lawns, Green River State Park is also an ideal spot for campers or those wanting a great spot for a picnic lunch.
For those seeking a more modern experience in-between camping and the river, the Green River State Park Golf Course is the place to swing away life’s worries. The elevated tees and greens add character to the golfing experience; giving it a one-of-a-kind feel you won’t soon forget.
The course offers fairways lined with mature cottonwood trees and water hazards from the meandering Green River. Surrounded by natural wonder, this nine-hole classic was designed to challenge the experienced player, but remain playable to newer golfers.
Green River Golf Course also features a new championship level 18-hole disc golf course. Disc golf supplies are available at the clubhouse along with disc rentals.
Volunteers are also welcome at Green River State Park for worthwhile and fun projects. Volunteering is open to individuals, couples, and families with children of all ages – as well as service groups and clubs. Whether you can spend a few minutes, hours, days, or months, a volunteer assignment can be tailored to meet your interests.
