Cisco Beach
Cisco Beach is open year-round. The beach in this area is rocky and the lake’s water depth drops fast. The rocky bottom and steep drop-off close to shore make this location a favorite of shore anglers and scuba divers. Cisco Beach received its name for the famous “Cisco Run.” Each winter the cisco spawn for up to two weeks in late January into early February. When the lake is iced over, anglers fish with dip nets in the shallow water along the shores for the small, six to eight-inch Bonneville cisco, a member of the whitefish family. The cisco are easily scooped up by hardy anglers wading waist-deep in the icy water or through holes in the ice if the lake is frozen.
Cisco Beach is located on the east side of the lake. Cisco Beach can be accessed on Cisco Road, approximately 9 miles north of the Utah State Road 30 and Cisco Road junction in Laketown.
Cisco Beach Campground – Cisco Beach is a first-come, first-serve campground. With 58 individual campsites to choose from. Cisco Beach offers a rocky, beach-front access site to at all sites. This area is considered “primitive” because water and electrical utilities are not provided. No extra amenities are at this location. Vault toilets are spread throughout the campground. Cisco Beach has a low water launch ramp that can be accessed on the south end of the campground.
Rainbow Cove
Rainbow Cove is located on the east side of the lake. Rainbow Cove can be accessed on Cisco Road, approximately 11 miles north of the Utah State Road 30 and Cisco Road junction in Laketown. The south day-use beach area, near the launch ramp, is rocky with some sand. The new north day-use beach area is sandy. Some of the best sunsets on Bear Lake can be viewed from this location. The park keeps year round access to the launch ramp while the Sunset campground and north day-use area are open from approximately May 1 through October 31 of each year, weather permitting.
Rainbow Cove Campground – The state has completed the first phase of improvements to the park’s Rainbow Cove facility. Rainbow Cove currently has a 2 lane concrete launch ramp with a parking area for vehicles with boat trailers. Access has been developed to a sandy, day use beach on the north end of the facility. There are also 26 campsites, each with a shade shelter and fire ring. The campsites are first come, first serve. Vault toilets are spread throughout the facility.
- Future Phases: Future phases of this project will expand to a total of 58 individual campsites and 2 group campsites, each with a power and water connection; restrooms with flush toilets and showers; and, 3 RV dump stations. Stay tuned for more exciting details as we move forward with this project!
