Fishing Tournament
August 14

Boat fishing tournament throughout the reservoir. No park closures.

Search and Rescue Conference
September 17 – 19

Training conference for Utah’s Search and Rescue members. Training obstacles will be throughout the entire park and on Sand Mountain.

NOTIFICATION OF UPCOMING EVENT RESTRICTIONS FOR SAND HOLLOW STATE PARK: Due to this event, the following areas will be in a hard closure for all three days. Please stay clear of all areas listed below. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • Cliff Jumping Rocks
  • North end of the main boat parking lot
  • Dive Park and the dirt parking area

Kokopelli Triathlon
September 26

Multi-sport endurance race consisting of three sequential disciplines: swimming, cycling, and running. The competition is held against a continuous clock, meaning the timer starts at the beginning of the swim and does not stop until the athlete crosses the finish line. The park’s main boat ramp and reservoir will have a lot of activity during this scheduled event.

  • September 26th the main boat ramp will be closed from 6 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m.

UTV Takeover
October 21-25

Experience the ultimate off-road adventure, featuring OHV riding show and a premier vendor marketplace with the latest gear and local food. This high-octane weekend offers something for everyone with high-speed action on and off sand mountain and a full schedule of daily, family-friendly activities.

Spartan Race
March 6 & 7

Zion Spartan Trifecta Weekend: A Spartan Trifecta Weekend involves completing a Sprint (5K/20 obstacles), Super (10K/25 obstacles), and Beast (21K/30 obstacles) in two days to earn a special Trifecta medal. It is the ultimate test of endurance, requiring intense physical preparation to overcome cumulative fatigue, or “compromised legs,” across all three distances in one weekend.

Matt’s Off Road Games
March 18, 19, & 20

Multi-day annual event that brings together top off-road creators, heavy-duty custom wreckers, and thousands of fans for a showcase of technical driver skill and mechanical durability. Featuring specialized recovery challenges across the sand dunes, custom vehicle exhibitions, and a vendor row. It is one of the park’s most exciting and high-traffic weekends of the year.

  • Certain areas of the park will have a closure unless a ticket for the event is purchased.
  • Included:
    • All southern campgrounds
    • All southern beaches
    • OHV parking lot and tunnel

Fish and Fun
June 5

Sponsored fishing event put on for individuals with disabilities. The boat ramp will remain open during the event but there will be more activity than normal for a few hours in the morning.

Firework Show
July 4th

Celebrate America’s birthday at Sand Hollow State Park, featuring Hurricane City’s spectacular annual fireworks display hosted at the Cliff Jumping Rocks. This milestone celebration will include a wide range of park activities and premier local food vendors stationed throughout the grounds for a memorable holiday experience.
