Officials Recover Body from Willard Bay

WILLARD BAY STATE PARK — After a day of searching, officials successfully recovered the body of a man from Willard Bay on Wednesday.

Utah State Parks rangers, along with responders from Box Elder County and the Willard City Fire Department, first responded to Willard Bay State Park on Tuesday, February 26 after receiving information that a man may have drowned.

Following initial search efforts Tuesday afternoon, members of the Utah State Parks ROV Team deployed a submersible remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) to assist. Efforts were suspended later that night and resumed Wednesday morning.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. responders successfully located and recovered the man’s body from the water. 

At the time of this release, the incident remains under investigation. The man’s identity will not be released until after the family has been notified.

The search and recovery efforts were successful due to the combined efforts of Utah State Parks, Willard City Fire Department, and Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue.
