Park of the Week- Scofield State Park

Scofield Reservoir brings many visitors to the park each year, especially during the warm summer months. At an elevation of 7,616 feet, Scofield State Park is a perfect cool destination for camping, fishing and hiking.

The park offers two campgrounds with hookups, primitive camping area and plenty of day-use option. A 28-foot trailer and teepee are available for rent for those wanting a unique overnight experience.

Settlers came to Pleasant Valley in the 1870s because of large tracts of grazing land. Scofield was named after General Charles W. Scofield, a timber contractor who became president of the state’s first coal mining company. Mining peaked in the early 1920s when Scofield had 12 stores, 13 saloons, four large hotels, a post office, and a population of more than 6,000 residents. Today, less than 100 reside in the town.

Scofield State Park is located approximately 120 miles southeast of Salt Lake City. Take I-15 to the Price-Manti exit. Go east on SR 6 then turn right on SR 96. Ten miles to park
