Jordanelle State Park

  • Clean swallow nests out of cabanas at Hailstone. Install bird-X on cabanas. (Needs to be done in April)
  • Weed control at Rock Creek and Hailstone (cutting, digging)
  • Clean up deadfall at Rock Creek campsites and trails (cutting and stacking)
  • Staining garbage can holder and benches at Hailstone and Rock Creek (clear wood stain)
  • Painting and staining entrance station sign at Hailstone (we have paint left form Rock Creek sign)
  • (This is a job for a group of people that like to paint and can pay attention to detail)
  • Remove dead trees and replant new trees at Hailstone (trees need to be donated)
  • Replacing and tighten boards on Rock Creek vehicle bridge (Rod thinks we have boards that will work)
  • Litter pick-up Park wide (ongoing)
  • Paint fire hydrants and put weed barrier.

Project ideas after July 1st

  • Group camping area preparation- could include leveling and graveling an area for group campers to congregate that could include installation of fire ring.
  • Remove of dead trees at Hailstone. Maybe group could get a donation of trees to plant as replacements.
  • Gravel the edges of the pathway and the parking area at the Nature Center
  • Park wide repair of fire pits and grills. (Welder/metal worker experience needed).
  • Park wide backfill campsite cement pads
  • Relocate flags on flagpole rope (talk to Rod)
  • Various work orders
  • Detailed cleaning of restrooms as the water gets turned on to them
  • Weed spraying and Krovar sprayed on roadsides
  • Inventory of any needed work on hydrants, Elec.pedestals, grills and install missing vac. breakers
  • Reseed area behind McHENRY camp services above retaining wall
  • Reseed area east of Murdock camp services
  • Reseed area west of Dutch Hollow restroom (seeds may be available from soldier hollow)

Ongoing opportunities

  • SKILLED LABORERS: Volunteers contribute their skills and labor toward maintenance and development projects within our parks.
  • TRAIL WORKERS: Volunteers assist with trail construction, maintenance, patrolling and protection of natural resources. Antelope Island State Park has a volunteer trail patrol team, which ensures visitors stay on the trail and away from bison.
  • DOCENTS: Volunteers help interpret Utah’s heritage and culture to school students and visitors from around the world.
  • VISITOR CENTER STAFF: Volunteers help orient visitors and campers with the park and share their knowledge and love of nature and history.
  • CAMPGROUND HOSTS: Volunteers greet the public, check-in campers, and assist park rangers with campground activities. Campground Hosts may receive a campsite with utilities (if available) in exchange for their services.
  • OTHER VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers assist park management with fee collections, office work, and maintenance of grounds, equipment, and facilities.
