Where is the Reservation Office located and when is it open?
We are located at 1594 W North Temple, Suite 116, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84116. The Reservation Office is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday (excluding holidays); however, we do not take reservations in person. Please call us at (801) 322-3770 or (800) 322-3770.
Is it faster to make an Internet reservation or a phone reservation?
During opening mornings, it may be faster to make reservations over the phone. The average phone reservation takes approximately three minutes to complete reservations for up to three sites. Depending on your Internet connection, it may take up to 5 minutes to book a single site online.
How can I make my Internet reservation faster?
Set up an account ahead of time. Familiarize yourself with the process of making an online reservation before trying to book one on a busy opening date. We contract with ReserveAmerica for our online reservations.
How far in advance can I make a reservation?
Individual campsite reservations are accepted up to 16 weeks in advance from your park departure date. For exact opening dates, please visit the reservations calendar on this website. Opening dates begin at 7 a.m. for both the website and the reservation call center. Group reservations are accepted up to 11 months in advance of your park departure date.
How much notice do you need in order to make a reservation?
If campsites are available, reservations can be made a minimum of 2 days in advance of your park arrival date. If your date is less than 2 days away, unreserved campsites are available on a first come, first served basis.
How much does it cost to make a reservation?
An $8 non-refundable reservation fee is charged for each individual site reserved. Campsites vary from $10 to $25 per night. The fee is $10.25 for group sites. Some group sites charge a flat-rate fee, while others charge $3 per person per night, with a minimum occupancy.
What is the maximum number of days that I can stay in a park?
Length of stay is limited to 14 days (limited to five days at Snow Canyon from Feb-May and Sept-Nov) within any 30-day period. If you wish to stay longer please contact the park manager and we will do our best to accommodate you if we are able.
How many vehicles can I have at my site?
One. Unless otherwise noted on your confirmation, one camping unit and a maximum of eight people are allowed per campsite. A camping unit is one tent, one trailer or one camper (not a combination or multiples). An automobile with attached in-tow equipment is considered one vehicle. An extra vehicle (if allowed) will be charged half the camping fee per night (rounded to the next dollar). Sites that are $10 per night will charge an extra vehicle the full $10 fee.
How many people can camp on my site?
The maximum capacity of any individual campsite is 8 people (16 people in double sites). Group sites vary; for specifics, please call the park directly or call our reservation office at (801) 322-3770 or toll-free at (800) 322-3770.
Do children and infants count towards campsite capacity?
Yes.
How many reservations can I make at one time?
You may reserve up to three campsites at one park, per phone call or internet session, for the same date and time period. Parties requiring additional space are encouraged to reserve one of our group areas if available.
What if I can't use my reservation?
You have two options: 1) You can cancel your reservation and lose the $8 non-refundable reservation fee and either a $5 cancellation fee or the first night's camping fee (depending on when the cancellation is made), 2) For a $5 transfer fee, you can change your arrival date to a future date. All cancellations and transfers can only be done through the Reservation Office call center and must be done before the official check-in date of your confirmed reservation.
What if I do not show up or cancel?
If you do not occupy your reserved campsite by 10 a.m. on the day after your scheduled arrival date, the site will be made available to other campers. Many parks do not allow access after 10 p.m., so if you will be arriving later than that, please notify the park so they can try to accommodate you.
What if I leave early?
If you are leaving as a result of a natural emergency or sudden campground closure, camping fees will be refunded. For any other reason, please notify park staff before leaving the park.
What are the check-in and checkout times?
Check-in time at campsites is from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Wasatch Mountain). Check-out time is 2:00 p.m. (12:00 noon at Dead Horse Point).
Where can I set up on my site?
You must camp only in those places specifically provided or marked. If a tent pad is provided, tents must only be placed on the tent pad. All vehicles, RVs, and trailers must be parked on the paved driveway in your campsite. Driving or parking off road is not permitted.
Can I have a campfire or portable stove?
Yes. Portable gas-burning stoves are always allowed. Fires may be built only in fire rings, stoves, grills, or fireplaces provided for that purpose. Please bring your own wood, as you are not allowed to gather or chop wood in the park. Check with park staff before using a portable fire ring or charcoal barbeque grill. Do not leave your fire unattended. Be sure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving. Obey all fire restrictions; fires may be restricted or prohibited at various times. If you're ever unsure about having a fire, please check with park staff.
What are quiet hours in the park?
Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. All generators must be turned off during these hours. Voices and noise must be kept down.
How many amps are your electrical posts?
They are 20, 30 or 50 amps depending on the park. For more specific information please contact the park directly.
Can you look up my friend's reservation or tell me which site they are in?
No. To protect the privacy of our customers, we don't release any account information to anyone other than the account holder. In this situation we would recommend that you contact your friend for this information.
Can I make a check payment over the phone?
No. Check payments are accepted by mail and in person, only if your arrival date is at least 30 days from the day you make the reservation. All payments are due at the time of reserving the site, so checks need to be mailed the same day the reservation is made, and received within 5 business days. If checks are not received by the due date your reservations will be cancelled and you will still owe the reservation fees. Please mail or bring checks to the Utah State Parks Reservation Office, 1594 W North Temple, Suite 116, Salt Lake City, UT, 84116.
Can I make a camping reservation during winter months?
Yes, depending on the park. Some parks are in operation and accept reservations year-round while other parks offer winter camping on a first-come, first served basis. Some parks completely close their campgrounds for the winter. For an updated list of open campgrounds, please visit the current conditions page on this website.
Can I reserve a group picnic shelter or group campground?
Yes. Many of our state parks offer group day-use areas and group campgrounds. Group reservations are accepted up to 11 months in advance from your park departure date. A non-refundable fee is charged for group sites and building rentals and will be charged at the time the reservation is made. Reservations can be made by calling our reservation office at (801) 322-3770 or toll-free at (800) 322-3770.
