Fishing at Starvation State Park
Starvation has some of the best fishing in Utah. Just ask the Park Rangers that work here. Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Perch, and various species of trout are in the Reservoir.
Fishing Tournaments
Starvation is proud to be apart of the Catch a Cure for Cancer tournament (June 21, 2008) and the Walleye Classic (Sept 13-14, 2008). One year of the Walleye Classic 10, 10 plus pound Walleye, were caught. We also are the location for many local club tournaments for bass, perch, and walleye.
Trout
Pictured is a 20-inch brown caught here at Starvation. Rainbows and cutthroat trout are also in the reservoir. Spring and fall are the best times to catch trout at Starvation. Below the dam is the Strawberry River where people catch trout fly-fishing.
Perch
Perch can be easy to catch. They like to school up and if you catch one you can usually catch more in the same area. Use small hooks with worms, or small spinners to catch perch.
