BEAR LAKE STATE PARK

Lake elevation is currently at 5919.0'. Due to the poor winter snow conditions, Rocky Mountain Power/Pacific Corp has stopped pumping water from the lake. The target water level is now 5920.0'.

Full pool is 5923.65' and the lake reached an elevation of 5921.45' for the high point in 2011. The low elevation during the winter of 2011/2012 is 5918.75'.

BE AWARE OF ICE! Ice has been forming and thawing on the lake. Winds have been breaking it up and moving it around the lake. While some areas may be ice free, others will have areas of floating ice in chunks. These "ice flows" move around due to the weather.

***** Due to ice build up along the shoreline, boats may be able to launch at the Rainbow Cove launch ramp. This can change on a daily basis.

***** Due to ice build up along the shoreline, boats may be able to launch at the First Point launch ramp. This can change on a daily basis.

***** Due to ice build up along the shoreline, boats may be able to launch at the Cisco Beach launch ramp. This can change on a daily basis.

Due to ice forming on the lake, the ramp docks at First Point, Cisco Beach, and Rainbow Cove have been pulled out of the water for the rest of the winter.

***** The Bear Lake State Park Marina is currently open for the launching of boats. Ice has been forming inside the marina. 8 de-icers have been installed and are operating to help to keep the main channel of the marina open for access to the lake until the lake freezes over. The marina channel is open, however, ice slicks are moving around the lake and may block the entrance to the marina. For example, in the morning of January 31, an ice slick blocked the entrance to the marina, however, by the afternoon, boats could access the lake from the marina.

The following park areas are closed until approximately May 1, 2012, weather depending:
Rendezvous Beach - this includes Day Use, Willow, Birch, Cottonwood, and Big Creek campgrounds.
South Eden campground.
Rainbow Cove Bluff campsites.
North Eden campground.
Marina transient boat slips.

The vessel pump-out and the fish cleaning station at the marina have been shut off for the season.

News and announcements for 2012:

1) New fire rings have been installed at Cisco Beach. Camp fires will only be allowed in the fire rings. Visitors will not be allowed to build their own fire pits. In the future, the park will most likely designate a campsite with each fire ring.
2) Campsites have been designated at North Eden and Rainbow Cove. Visitors must camp in a designated campsite. When all campsites are occupied, the campgrounds are full. Visitors will not be allowed to make their own campsite.
3) Bids are currently being sought to contract with a business to perform boat cleaning and detailing within the marina.
4) The vessel sewage pump-out at the marina is scheduled to be replaced before Memorial Day weekend 2012.
5) A portion of the Rainbow Cove access road has been widened, graded, and paved. This section extends from the launch ramp up through and passed the tight "S" curve. A grant request has been submitted to complete this project to Cisco Road.
