Johnston's Army Adventure Camp (FULL) (May 16, 2008 - May 17, 2008)
Camp Floyd/Stagecoach Inn (Fairfield, Utah)
Boy Scouts travel back in time to 1861 and enter the world of a soldier at Camp Floyd, Utah Territory. As a newly enlisted private, scouts don a uniform and shoulder muskets. The Adventure Camp experience offers an authentic and unique hands-on opportunity. This is an overnight experience in period tents. The camp will also meet the requirements for the American Heritage Merit badge, and the National Historic Trails Award. Reservations and a $10 fee per boy are required.

Location: Mountain View Group Area. Preregistration: Begins May 2nd and continues until event starts. Event Registration: Friday May 16th 6-7:30 pm or Saturday 6:30-7:30 am. Entry Fee: $20.00 per person. Tournament Times: Saturday May 17th 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Weigh in times: 3:30pm to 4:00pm. Awards will be giving out following the weigh in. Awards will be gift certificates from Sportsman's Warehouse. 1st place $400, 2nd $300, 3rd $100. There will be $200 in giveaways following the awards. While rock art is quite beautiful, chances are it wasn't created for its looks. Rock art, such as petroglyphs, was used to convey messages and ideas. On Thurs., May 22nd from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., explore a small rock art site and learn who created it; discuss its meaning and create your own "rock art" to take home. This program is free with payment of $5 park entry fee. Registration required.

Civil War Days (May 24, 2008 - May 26, 2008)
Camp Floyd/Stagecoach Inn (Fairfield, Utah)
Camp Floyd State Park in conjunction with the Utah Civil War Association are hosting a Civil War Encampment on Memorial Day Weekend at Camp Floyd State Park. The event will allow visitors to experience camp life and participate in several activities performed by soldiers of Johnston's Army; learn to drill and march, load and fire a Civil War period rifle, watch a battle and medical display. Bring your picnic and have lunch with a soldier and participate in 1861 period games. The events will be conducted on both Saturday May 24th and Monday, May 26, 2008. All events are free of charge. Standard museum entrance fees of $2 per person or $6 per family still apply.

Learn to make pioneer handkerchief dolls, pick up a needle and quilt. Dip candles and make a pioneer lantern. Learn pioneer games such as farm ball and race your family in a sack race. Participants will need to bring an empty vegetable or soup can to make their own pioneer lantern.
