Park of the Week – Fremont Indian State Park and Museum

Discover artifacts, petroglyphs, and pictographs left behind by the Fremont Indians. During construction of Interstate 70, the largest known Fremont Indian village was uncovered. This museum preserves treasures from the site, including pottery, baskets, and arrowheads. Spend a day at the museum, hiking on local trails, and then camp at nearby Castle Rock Campground.

Castle Rock Campground offers 31 sites for both tent and RV camping. There are no RV hookups, but restrooms and water are available. For a unique experience, spend a night in the park’s teepee!

The Paiute all terrain vehicle (ATV) Trail, the most impressive ATV trail system in the world, runs right through the middle of Fremont Indian State Park. Trailheads and parking are located within the park. The Sergeant Mountain Trailhead features parking, picnic tables, shade, water, a fire pit, and an informational kiosk. Maps are available in the visitor center. Remember to wear a properly fitted and fastened helmet and proper safety gear when riding.
